Bueno ya esta solucionado el tema de la compu de tu casa, para entrar al foro.!

Rolo, ayer fui a comer a lo de ricardo a la noche, y le di una mano con la compu..
No me preguntes que era, porque no tengo idea, pero ahora anda bien.! :rofl:
Queria escribir, y cuando ponia enviar, aparecia desconectado en la pagina de inicio.

hay muchos avances en el 32.. ahora estaba por llevar el motor a una rectificadora y desp. lo arma el..

Podrias comentar algo de ese que viste vos.. Chevrolet v8 serie D, que se fabrico entre 1917 y 1919..!

Would you believe that since 1955, Chevrolet has produced about 90 million small block V8 engines? That's a huge number of engines, probably more than any other engine that's ever been built. This engine's amazing longevity and ongoing evolution has taken it from 265 cubic inches and 110 horsepower in 1955 to 427 cubic inches (7.0 liters) and over 500 horsepower today (Corvette LS7).

Why did the Chevy small block V8 become so popular and why did it outlive most of its competitors? When the engine was first conceived, overhead valve pushrod engines had been around for some time. Chevrolet actually built their its overhead valve V8 back in 1917. It was a 288 cubic inch "Series D" engine rated at a measly 55 horsepower. It was a heavy, expensive engine and only a couple thousand were built before it was discontinued in 1919. Thereafter, Chevrolet built six-cylinder engines for its passenger cars up through 1954.

In the early 1950s, V8 engines were all the rage. Ford's low-cost flathead V8, which first appeared in 1932, helped popularize the V8 configuration with the American public. People liked the power and the smoothness of a V8 compared to a four or six-cylinder engine. But flatheads were not very efficient engines because the valves were located in the block. This made the engine cheap to manufacture but also restricted breathing and the performance potential of the engine. Even so, Ford flathead V8s were popular with hot rodders of that era because they were so abundant and because aftermarket companies made performance parts to "soup up" these engines.

In 1949, General Motors got serious about overhead valve V8s with the introduction of an all-new engine for Cadillac. This was GM's first "modern" mass produced V8 with high compression heads (7.5:1, which was high for the gasoline of those days), overhead valves and "lightweight" castings (200 lbs. lighter than the earlier Cadillac V8 engine it replaced). The 1949 Cadillac engine was an "oversquare" design with 3.81 inch bores and a 3.62 inch stroke, giving it a total displacement of 331 cubic inches. The engine was rated at 160 horsepower, which made it a more powerful, fuel efficient engine than any previous design. The engineering that went into the Cadillac engine set the stage for new engines that would later come from Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Chevrolet.

Chevrolet purists won't like this, but two of the key features that would eventually make the small block Chevy V8 such a hit actually came from Pontiac engineers: a new "green sand" casting process that reduced the complexity of the casting process enabling blocks and heads to be cast with thinner walls and greater precision (which reduced machining), and new lightweight stamped steel rocker arms. Most engines at that time had heavy, cast rocker arms mounted on a long shaft assembly. This limited the rpm potential of the engine and made the engines more expensive to build. The new lightweight stamped steel rockers that Pontiac engineers were developing, combined with a redesigned oiling system that fed oil up through hollow pushrods to splash lubricate the stud-mounted rocker arm pivots, reduced the weight and complexity of the valvetrain. This meant higher rpm and power potential, and less manufacturing cost.

The Father of the Small Block
Even invention has an inventor, and the Chevy small block V8 is no exception. Though corporate engines are developed and built by teams of engineers, there's always somebody at the top who gives the process direction and implementation. That man was Chevrolet's chief engineer Ed Cole.

According to the book "Chevrolet 1955, Creating the Original" by Michael Lamm (a history of the development of the 1955 Chevy and small block V8), General Motors wanted to revamp Chevrolet's image in the early 1950s. Chevrolet had become an "old man's" car. Younger buyers (which are future repeat buyers) as well as hot rodders were buying Ford products. Their grandfathers were buying Chevrolets. So the brass at GM decided a new direction was needed for Chevrolet, a more youthful, performance-oriented image.

In 1952, Chevrolet hired the guy who spearheaded the development of Cadillac's new V8, Ed Cole. Cole was an engineer who not only understood where engine technology was heading but who also was a racer at heart. He was a performance guy who wanted to build engines people would buy. He had a vision and a mission, and the opportunity that Chevrolet offered him was too much to resist.

When Ed Cole took over as top engineer at Chevrolet, the first thing he did was throw out everything his predecessors had been working on for Chevrolet's "next generation" engines. He wanted to build a lightweight, inexpensive engine using the latest technology, and to build an engine that would beat anything Ford had to offer. So he started with a clean sheet of paper and brought together all the key elements that would eventually create Chevy's new small block V8.

In 1953, Chevrolet introduced the Corvette, America's first sports car. The small block V8 was still in development, so the Corvette was initially powered by a "Blue Flame" six-cylinder with three carburetors. This was Chevrolet's initial effort at turning around its image, but it was the 1955 Chevy that really changed things for Chevrolet thanks to the new V8.

Why the New Chevy V8 Did So Well
When the 1955 Chevy went on sale, the V8 was an immediate hit. Though the engine only displaced 265 cubic inches and came with a two-barrel carburetor giving it 162 horsepower, it was obvious the engine had serious performance potential. Soon thereafter, a four-barrel version with 185 horsepower was offered, followed by a dual four-barrel motor pumping out 225 horsepower. Those numbers may not sound like much by today's standards, but at the time they were quite good. Within a couple of years, the new small block V8 would be putting out one horsepower per cubic inch (283/283) - a goal that had always eluded engineers and some thought may never be possible to achieve in a naturally aspirated engine.

When Chevy engineers established the dimensions of the small block, they never dreamed that someday it would displace over 400 cubic inches. At the time, there were no plans to enlarge the displacement much beyond the original 265 cubic inches. In fact, the engine was initially planned to displace 260 cubic inches with 3.75 inch bores and a 2.93 inch stroke. But they decided to round off the stroke to an even 3 inches, which pushed the displacement up to 265.

As casting techniques improved, Chevy engineers realized the small block had a lot of potential for growth. They could increase the bore size and the stroke to offer more displacement and power for larger cars or more performance. The 265 soon became a 283, then a 327, then a 350 and eventually a 400 with other sizes in between (302, 307, etc.). The flexibility of the original block and heads is one of the reasons the engine remained in production for so long and was produced in so many different configurations.

The interchangeability of parts, namely the cylinder heads, block, pistons and cranks, also allowed this engine to be built many different ways and to be installed in many different vehicles. The growing volume of engines that were being produced also meant that the small block Chevy V8 was plentiful and cheap, making it a natural choice for hot rodders, racers and aftermarket performance products. Eventually, it would become the most popular performance and racing engine of all time.

The compact size of the block (21.75 inches long and only 9 inches high from the oil pan rail to the cylinder heads) allowed the engine to fit almost anything. The block only weighed 531 pounds, which as 41 pounds less than Chevy's in-line six-cylinder engine. This too, was a big advantage and attraction for many hot rodders and racers. The new block also required only 12 casting cores, compared to as many as 22 for other manufacturers' blocks at the time. This reduced the cost of the engine and allowed the cylinders to be cast with greater precision.

The crossflow cylinder heads also proved to be very efficient and capable of producing significant horsepower with larger valves. The wedge-shaped combustion chambers could handle a lot of compression without experiencing detonation, and had enough meat to allow porting for increased airflow.

The new engine also proved to be quite durable. Chevy engineers opted to use a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods rather than cast parts. This, combined with the lightweight valvetrain, allowed the small block to be a high revving, good performing engine.

Car and Driver magazine named the small block Chevrolet one of the 10 Best Engines of all time, a distinction shared with Ford's flathead V8, the Porsche 911 flat six, Cadillac's 1949 V8, Jaguar's XK Six, Volkswagen's air-cooled Beetle four and some exotic engines most people have never heard of by Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Mercedes.

Over the years, Chevrolet small block V8s have won more NASCAR, circle track, SCCA and drag racing events than any other manufacturer. This fact alone should attest to the engine's popularity. In recent years, the availability of aftermarket performance blocks and heads to replace the OEM castings has helped continue and expand the popularity and versatility of the Chevy small block. This, in turn, continues to fuel the ongoing development of performance parts for these engines, which means more races won and more dominance for Chevrolet in most forms of racing.

Ongoing Evolution of the Chevy Smallblock Engine
The original "Gen I" Chevy small block enjoyed a production run of almost 40 years, from 1955 through 1991. In 1992, Chevy engineers decided it was time to make some major revisions in the original design, so they introduced the second generation "Gen II" small block in the Corvette. The new "LT1" engine looked pretty much the same and shared the same basic dimensions, but featured reverse-flow cooling, revised cylinder heads and a crank-triggered "Opti-Spark" distributor. Displacement remains at 350 cubic inches.

The LT1 engine replaced the previous L98 engine, and offered 509 more horsepower in the same sized package. The engine had a cast iron block with aluminum cylinder heads. The reverse-flow cooling system routed coolant to the heads first rather than the block to stabilize head temperatures and to allow the block to run hotter (for less friction). The water pump on this engine was driven by a small gear behind the timing chain, rather than being belt-driven like every previous small block V8. The distributor was eliminated, replaced by the cam-driven Opti-Spark system on the front of the engine. This version of the small block was also Chevy's first to come factory-filled with 5W-30 synthetic motor oil.

The Gen II V8 (LT1 and LT4 versions) powered various GM cars from 1992 to 1997. But as time marched on, so did technology. Chevrolet engineers decided it was time to totally redesign the small block.

Gen III LS1 Engine: Back to the Drawing Board
In 1997, the new C5 Corvette was equipped with a totally new small block dubbed the "Gen III." The production designation was "LS1" and that soon became the label for Chevy's new small block.

Like the original 265 small block V8, the LS1 was created from a clean sheet of paper. The only thing Chevy engineers wanted to retain from the original design was the bore spacing. The block, heads and manifolds are totally new (and NOT interchangeable with any of the earlier engines). The LS1 block is aluminum with cast-in-place iron liners. The most noticeable changes are the cylinder heads. Gone are the familiar siamese exhaust ports in the center of the heads. The LS1 heads look more like Ford heads with even spacing between all the intake and exhaust ports. The intake ports also have a unique shape with a tall, narrow configuration. The new design improves breathing and eliminates the hot spot between the two center cylinders that can sometimes lead to head gasket failure. The other major change is the firing order (1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 in the new engine versus 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in the older engines).

The latest renditions of the small block are the "Gen IV" engines that include the 6.0L LS2, the 5300 5.3L (LS4) with "displacement on demand," and Vortec 5300 5.3L (LH6) for Chevy trucks. Displacement on demand deactivates up to four cylinders when the engine is under light load to improve fuel economy. Developed by Delphi, displacement on demand closes the intake and exhaust valves on targeted cylinders using special electronically controlled hydraulic lifters, and disables fuel and spark to those cylinders.

Years ago when overhead cam engines were all the rage, GM engineers said pushrod engines were here to stay. Why? Because pushrod engines offer the most efficient package for the price. A pushrod engine with two valves per cylinder develops good torque at low rpm and cost much less to build than an engine with overhead cams and three or four valves per cylinder. The pushrod engine, at least in GM's opinion, remains the "bread-and-butter" engine for the masses. The small block Chevy V8 is no exception. This engine still come a long way over the past 50 years, and still has a long way to go.


1952: GM begins development work on the small block Chevy V8. Ed Cole, Chevy's new chief engineer, designs a new high revving, low cost, lightweight engine that uses the latest casting techniques, stamped steel rocker arms, pushrod valvetrain oiling, crossflow cylinder heads and a one-piece intake manifold. The goal is to create an engine that will outperform Ford.

1954: October 28, the all-new 265 cubic inch "small block" V8 is introduced in the redesigned 1955 model year Chevrolet. With a two-barrel carburetor, the engine develops 162 gross horsepower.

1955: The new small block V8 powers the 1955 Chevrolet Indy 500 pace car, and starts to win stock car races across the country. With optional "Power Pack" four-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, power output is up to 180 hp.

1956: The small block V8 sets a new production car record at Pikes Peak hill climb, and a new "flying mile" speed record at Daytona with Zora Arkus-Duntov at the wheel. Dual four-barrel carburetors on an aluminum intake manifold are offered as a performance option, and boost output to 225 hp.

1957: The 265 is discontinued and is replaced with a larger, more powerful 283 cubic inch version of the small block V8. Bore size is increased from 3.75 to 3.875 inches. Stroke remains the same at 3.00 inches. The 283 remains in production for 10 more years. Rochester mechanical fuel injection also is offered, bringing the engine's power output up to 283 hp (GM's first production engine to achieve 1 hp/per cubic inch). Chevy wins NASCAR championship.

1961: The 283 reaches its maximum horsepower rating of 315 hp with improved cylinder heads.

1962: New 327 cubic inch version of small block is introduced, and remains in production until 1969. The 327 has larger 4.00 inch bores and a longer 3.25 inch stroke. "Ramjet" fuel-injected version is rated at 360 hp.

1964: Cylinder head improvements and hotter camshaft raise 327 "L84" version with fuel injection to 375 hp (highest gross horsepower rating ever for a production small block). First small block with Holley four barrel carburetor also offered.


High performance "L79" 327 introduced rated at 350 hp.


New high revving, high performance 302 cubic inch version of small block is offered in new Camaro Z28 (same bore as 327 but same stroke as 283). The 302 is rated at 290 hp. New 350 cubic inch version also debuts that will remain in production until 1992 and become Chevy's most popular small block. The 350 has the same bore size as the 327 but a longer 3.48 inch stroke crankshaft.


A 307 cubic inch "economy" engine is introduced (same stroke as 327 and same bores as a 283). The 307 remains in production until 1973. A 302 Camaro Z28 wins the Trans Am championship.

1969: The short-lived high performance 302 in the Camaro Z28 is discontinued, replaced by the larger 350. The 327 is also discontinued.

1970: 350 "LT1" debuts in Camaro and Corvette and is rated at 370 hp. Also new this year is a 400 cubic inch version of the small block with siamese cylinders. The 400 has 4.125 inch bores and a 3.75 inch stroke. The 400 remains in production for the next 10 years.



1971: Unleaded gasoline is introduced, and engines are "detuned" for emissions. Gross horsepower ratings drop.

1973: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) added to engines to reduce oxides of nitrogen emissions.

1975: A downsized 262 cubic inch small block with 3.67 inch bores and 3.10 inch stroke is introduced for improved fuel economy and emissions. Engine is most underpowered small block in history (only 110 hp) and is a flop. The engine is discontinued the following year. Catalytic converter added to exhaust to reduce emissions.

1976: 305 cubic inch "emissions" engine is introduced with 3.74 inch bores and 3.48 inch stroke. This engine becomes base V8 for Chevrolet and remains in production for 20 years.

1979: 267 cubic inch version of the small block appears for two years (discontinued in 1981). This engine features 3.50 inch bores (the smallest ever used) and a 3.48 inch stroke.

1980: Last year for the 400 small block. Dale Earnhardt wins first of seven NASCAR Winston Cup championships with Chevy small block V8.

1981: Computerized engine controls with oxygen sensors and feedback fuel control carburetion added to reduce emissions.

1982: Cross-Fire electronic fuel injection with dual throttle bodies introduced on the "L83" 305 V8 in the Corvette. Camaro paces the Indy 500 with an aluminum 350 small block V8.

1983: High output "L69" version of small block offered.

1985: Tuned Port fuel injection (TPI) on "L98" 350 small block replaces cross-fire injection (Thank God!) ushering in the modern era of electronically controlled, port-injected engines. Corvette dominates SCCA showroom stock, winning every race for three years straight.

1986: Aluminum cylinder heads appear mid-year on L98 Corvette engines. Small block finally gets new single-piece rear main oil seal (to reduce oil leaks).

1987: Small block gets hydraulic roller lifters to reduce friction.

1989: New high output 350 "crate motor" is introduced by Chevrolet Raceshop for racers who want to drop in a performance motor. The crate motor concept changes the way many hot rodders approach engine building. Darrell Waltrip wins first NASCAR Winston Cup in a small block-powered Lumina.

1992: Second generation (Gen II) "LT1" engine is introduced in the Corvette. The new Gen II small block features reverse-flow cooling, revised cylinder head design, and crank-triggered "Opti-Spark" distributor. Displacement remains at 350 cubic inches.

1994: New 4300 (4.3L) version of LT1 small block introduced. Displacement is 265 cubic inches (same as the original engine) but the bores are slightly smaller at 3.74 inches. This is a Gen II engine with reverse-flow cooling and Opti-Spark ignition.

1996: New 5000 (5.0L) and 5700 (5.7L) Series "Vortec" V8 engines introduced for Chevy trucks. Vortec engines have redesigned cylinder heads with swirl-inducing combustion chamber to increase power and torque. Corvette LT1 gets bigger valves, a hotter cam, 30 more horsepower and is renamed "LT4." GM switches to Dex-Cool coolant in all vehicles.

1997: New Gen III 5.7L "LS1" small block appears in the redesigned C5 Corvette. The LS1 has 3.90 inch bores and a 3.62 inch stroke, and is an entirely new design with an aluminum deep-skirt block with iron cast-in-place cylinder liners, new cylinder heads with symmetrical evenly spaced ports and four bolts per cylinder (versus the previous five per cylinder), aluminum roller rocker arms, plastic intake manifold, coil-near-plug ignition system, and a new firing order (1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3). Reverse-cooling was discontinued in favor of traditional coolant flow. The new LS1 is rated at 340 hp.

1999: Gen III-based Vortec V8 engines introduced in GM trucks. Displacements include 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.

2001: New high performance "LS6" version of LS1 engine in Z06 Corvette delivers 345 hp with redesigned 10.5:1 compression heads and a hotter cam.

2005: LS6 engine in Z06 Corvette how up to 405 hp, and is equipped with titanium exhaust system. The LS1 is replaced by the larger 6.0L "LS2," which Chevy dubbed the "Gen IV" engine. The LS2 is rated at 390 hp. First "displacement on demand" engine offered on Vortec 5300 in 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL. Delphi-engineered valvetrain deactivates cylinders when not needed to save gas.

2006: New 427 cubic inch (7.0L) "LS7" offered in 2006 model year Corvette Z06. Rated at 500 hp, the engine has larger 4.13 inch bores with thinner press-fit iron cylinder liners, and a 4.00 inch stroke. Compression ratio is 11:1, and the valve angle has been decreased to 12 degrees from 16 degrees for better flow. The engine also uses high lift 1.8:1 ratio rockers.

Llegaste de cordoba.! que bueno.. a ver cuando nos juntamos a comer un asadito.. (en tu casa esta vez :D: )

Sabes que aca me estan gastando porque toque el tema del motor v8 de chevrolet.., que salio de 1917 a 1919..
Antes los de Ford eran los primeros, ahora le mandaron eso de "Fabricacion en Serie", que gente no?
GM, diseño un V8 primero y punto..! eso fue lo unico que dije..!
Despues digan lo que quieran..!!! La verdad poco me importa..!

Hola amigos saludos,para Rolo,Maticose,Fede,walter y todos los demás, hoy estuve en la rectificadora (en Cippolletti)para ver cuanto va a salir la mecanizacion del V8 1932, y la verdad que no fue tan grave, tengo que hacerle dos superficies planas, encamisar con camisas std.y ajustar los pistones nuevos con bruñido incluido, además alesar el alojamiento de las bancadas del cigüeñal,porque le voy a hacer los cojinetes en dos mitades,ya tengo todos los repuestos que pedí pero los cojinetes los tengo que fabricar en el torno, luego veré como sigue,seguro que no termina allí la cosa, válvulas guias y metales etc.
Fede ya lo del V8 te lo aclararon los que saben mas que yo, no quedan dudas de quien pico en punta. :D: :D: :D: .el V8-32 fue el primero que anduvo y que todavía sigue andando, pero cuando Chevrolet experimento con el V8 que no anduvo, Ford tenia un 8 en X que no lo llevaron a producción ( ojo no es un invento mio, esta en los libros).
Rolo espero que me cuentes como vas con los Ford32- V8 estas haciendo algo o hay otras cosas primero.
Al amigo que me pregunto por los paragolpes del 32 lo único que puedo desirte es que en USA los conseguis nuevos en www.macsautoparts.com allí los vas a ver con precio y todo, a lo que valen le tenes que agregar un 50% de impuestos aduaneros ( para los muchachos que nunca descansan) y el flete.

No tengo fotos nuevas de la restauración pero cuando las tenga veré como las subo, les muestro una que tengo de otra Ford 64 4X4.que arme hace un tiempito.
